My mother was English and often quoted Charles Spurgeon’s phrase “Begin as you mean to go on, and go on as you began” which has come to mean to establish good habits or set a good example from the outset.
Since this is the first collection of my memes posted in the New Year I thought a fitting theme would be positivity: kindness, compassion and empathy. These days that’s not always easy to find or maintain but if we all start off with that intention life will be a bit easier for us all.

Bitchin' Chickens 
I’ve been fighting for a Silkie hen for over a month. 3 vets with no answers. She has a growth on her leg, is eating and drinking normally but not walking. The last vet gave me oral antibiotics. After an Epsom salt bath the scab came off and looked strange. I’m sending pic of before and after the scab. This is last week of antibiotics and probably her last week unless I can find something helpful to save her. Thank you for any advice you can give me, Brenda
