I live on a gulf island, Gabriola, off the west coast of Canada. Our land mass, equivalent to the size of Manhattan, with a population of just 4500 permanent residents is home to a large number of artists, crafters and writers of all stripes, hence being dubbed ‘The Isle Of The Arts’.
As you can imagine, over my more than two decades living here, I’ve been to loads of galleries and shows. Art is one of those things that is subjective: you either like it or your don’t. Some folks continually explore new and diverse themes and media, while others seem to repeatedly mine the same motifs. I used to think that was the result of a bit of laziness or lack of creativity. I’ve come to revise my opinion. Sometimes you come across something that calls for a deeper exploration and even though the end result may appear similar there are differences.
The caption “When you lie on your resume …” seemed so fitting to explore, in terms of the world of chickens. There is something comical about the anatomy of poultry – those small heads perched on flightless round bodies, that when they’re on the move make their owners waddle from side to side. And then there are all the situations they find themselves in that also make me laugh.
I took that little piece of text and ran with it making a couple of dozen memes matched with, I hope, fitting photos.
I’ve also explored using another caption repeatedly (“When you follow the YouTube tutorial, but still can’t get it right”) on a previous post. If you’ve got some text or idea that you think would be interesting to pair with chickens I’d be happy to give it my best shot. Just leave it in the comments below or drop me a line using the ‘contact’ button on my homepage.

I’m thrilled to see MeepMeep and her sewing exploits here.
