I get a lot of unsellable produce from two food recovery programs. I put it down on the ground and what doesn’t get eaten goes in this homemade compost bin. When the level gets a bit higher the birds go in there and scratch around which turns it into compost faster.
It’s made of hardware cloth, a strip of wood which is screwed through the wire with wing nuts and some plastic garden landscape edging to cover any sharp edges. It’s easy to move and easy to pick up and shovel the contents into a wheelbarrow.
