I took French class for a few years through junior high which meant that I understood a bit of vocabulary, had a decent accent when reciting text but couldn’t put a sentence together. Grade 10 Latin, on the other hand, has been far more useful. Although the English language is not descended from Latin, unlike Spanish, French, Portuguese or Italian, but about 60% of English words are of Latin origin due to borrowing from those languages. Almost 50 years later I can often look at a word and figure out its meaning by dissecting the various components.
As a language nerd I have been putting together a number of new words for your chicken lexicon. Feel free to try them out in conversation and see what kind of reaction you get.

I love all these memes about chickens. Not being a chicken-raiser I might not appreciate some of the meanings. They are all very clever and make me laugh.
I do understand the importance of Latin in the English language. I took Latin until Grade 13 and always did well. I often see a word and can see how it derives from Latin. I think over 50% of English is derived from both Latin and Greek. Brenda
